Affluenza defense

The American justice system never ceases to amaze me. I don’t get how a person can claim to be “too rich to comprehend right from wrong” and gets sentenced 720 days in juvenile hall for killing four people in a drunk driving accident.

I’m curious for all those simple cases that kids get arrested for for not knowing they did something wrong.

Someone please tell me what you think.

My Family Roadtrip Jan. 2018 | @janedarlingg

I know, I know. I’ve been actually quiet on here. I’ve been away on a road trip with my parents visiting my grandmother before she passes. I was stuck in a car with two other bodies and two little dogs for 3 days traveling by car to Texas. Boy, was it a tiring and draining trip. First off, it was my first time away from my boyfriend for more than one night, but I am so glad to be back home where the weather is warmer and the water tastes normal!

My dad loves to stop at as many rest stops as we can. It gives us time to stretch our legs, spark a cigarette, and enjoy the road trip.

We had to make a stop to visit my grandfather’s memorial. I’ve always found myself at peace whenever I pray to him because I always feel him watch over me.

It was so cold when I took this photo. You can tell my cheeks and lips are frozen. I believe it was 30º!  I’ve never been anywhere colder!

I’m honestly so happy to be back home. Texas is much more different than California.  The streets in the countryside is long and lonely, and the weather makes you hibernate. Even the news in Texas is different! You can definitely tell how people’s minds are thinking based on what they watch on the news. Have you guys even noticed when you guys are travelling?

2018 Resolutions | @janedarlingg

I know I’m late with this post, but better late than never!  With everything happening right now, it only made sense to bring to light my 2017 New Years Resolutions. I’ve always felt like it was silly to wait for the beginning of the year to make a change in your life, but 2018 is the year of changes, so keep reading if you want to know my six resolutions!

  1. Don’t take anything for granted!
This is my most important resolution. We’re so busy with our schedules that we forget to cherish the small things, and the important.

This means taking better care of your body.
Drink your water, and take those vitamins. And don’t forget to do your skin routine and make sure you fully take off your makeup.

Take better care of your things

Wash your car and makeup brushes more often. Clear the insides of your handbags more often.

Tell your loved ones they’re appreciated.
Call your friends more often just to tell them you appreciate their friendship. Go to brunch, or set up monthly catch up-dates!

  2. Declutter EVERYTHING.
I wanted to come into 2018 with a clear mindset. Having a positive mindset truly helped me get through 2017. 2018 is going to be the year to start off with everything fresh.

    DECLUTTER YOUR MIND
Come into the new year with a positive mindset. Get rid of all the negative things you’ve been telling yourself or someone else is telling you. Embrace your flaws and strengths. Love yourself.

Get rid of your toxic friends
Toxic friends will bring you no where in life. If you feel like your friendship is a competition, then DROP THEM. They are not your friend, and you don’t need to owe an explanation to anyone.

    Reorganize your wardrobe
Go through your entire closet and donate all those pieces you no longer wear or those pieces you say you’re going to wear, but never end up wearing. (So me.) Don’t you want to open your drawers and have the shirt you were thinking of putting on be right there on top? Throw away old jewelry or makeup that’s been sitting there collecting dust.

    Declutter your home
Go through your home and throw away everything you don’t need that’s taking up space. Go through your pantry and throw away old spices and old candy. (When you think about it, it will only cost you that much amount of money to get it back). Throw away old face creams that never worked out for you and clear out your medicine cabinet!

  3. Set realistic goals
Being the ambitious beings that we are, we tend to set goals when we’re really amped up about new year. Remember, slow progress is still progress. Don’t tell yourself that you’re going to the gym everyday. Instead, tell yourself that you’re going to be there 3 days out of the week, and then you can work up to your goal! It’ll be much easier that way, and definitely won’t be discouraging if you decide to skip a day.

  4. Challenge yourself more
Take on more chores around the house, and pick up more responsibilities. Actually take your dog on a walk this time, like you said you were going to do. Do what you want to do, that you’re scared of doing. Go skydive or touch a stingray!

  5. Be judgement free
You really get to see the beauty in things when you look at things from a judgement free point of view. People are the way they are because something happened to them, and they decided to cope with it a certain way. Seniors might have a  tendency to complain so much because they’re enduring some type of pain. Just be nice to people.

  6. Stop the hate
I actually learned this life lesson from one of my professors, Dr. Drew. People are so ready to attack someone else these days just because their way of thinking is different from theirs. What if someone disagrees with you? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Is their way necessarily wrong because it differentiates with you? Just stop the hate.

Anyways, those are my 2018 New Years Resolutions. I started to rant at the end, but I had to put it out there. Thanks for reading again!

Valentine’s Day – 10 Gift Ideas for Her | @janedarlingg

With department stores already setting up their Valentine’s Day section, I couldn’t help but get inspired to write my next post. Since this is a post dedicated to gift ideas for her, I am going to have to warn you that most of these things that I mention are going to be personalized. Go the extra step to show her that you’ve been thinking about her by putting her name on things!

  1.  Get her a personalized candle.
Candles are pretty universal when it comes to gifting.  You can gift a personalized candle for any season! Don’t forget to grab one for your best friend or your mom!

Yankee Candle – Personalize Your Candle

  2. Pearl Bath Bombs or Lush Bath Bombs
I’ve always been a huge fan of bath bombs. They’re inexpensive and make great “me-time”. Lush bath bombs are made to enhance your mood, make your skin feeling smooth, and you can buy them gift wrapped. My favorite one, hands down, is by the brand, Pearl Bath Bombs. Once the bath bomb finishes fizzing, you’ll find a ring floating on top of the water in a little pod! It’s the perfect way to present a cute promise ring and take your relationship to the next step!

Lush Bath Bombs | Pearl Bath Bombs

  3. The Forever Rose
I actually found out about the Forever Rose because one of my friend’s boyfriend bought her one and I thought the idea was totally cute! They create their roses with 24K gold and other metals. It’s a cute way to tell her that you’ll love her forever!

Enchanted Rose in Dome (Red) | Platinum Trimmed Rose (Red)

  4. Polaroid Camera
If you haven’t gotten your girl a Polaroid camera, then what are you doing! Good thing Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and you can get her one.

Fujifilm Instax Cameras | Polaroid Originals

  5. Personalized Robe
Make her feel like a queen with her own personalized robe! Having her own robe will make her feel like she’s in the movies!

Personalized Kimono Robe | White Plush Mom Robe

  6. Personalized Necklace
I purchased a personalized necklace for my best friend and had to get one for myself! The one I bought was from Acacia Lily. You’ll love the look on your girl’s face just as much as she’ll love her necklace! You can also check Groupon for great deals on personalized necklaces!

Rose Pendant Initial Necklace | Personalized Bar Necklace | Babygirl Necklace

  7.  Perfume
As cliche as it sounds, I still love getting perfume as a gift. My boyfriend bought me the Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture. If you’re taking her out for dinner, tell her to wear it for the evening.

Juicy Couture – Viva La Juicy | Chanel 2-Pc. N°5 Gift Set

  8. A new pet!
So for Christmas, I was pretty upset that none of my presents were barking yet. I kept asking Cody if the puppy was hiding in his mom’s closet or if he wrapped it up already. If you read my last post, you’ll know that Cody and I are moving in together soon, and another addition to our little family would be perfect!

  9. I love you books
If you’re bad at telling her how you feel, you can simply just get her one of these “I love you” books. They’re so affordable and it’ll make your sweetheart’s heart melt! You can definitely use one of these books as a card too!

Chronicle Books – Happiness Is… | Kate & Dave Marshall – What I Love About You

  10. Gift Cards
GIFT CARDS ARE NOT TACKY! Especially when they come from your most favorite store. Spoil her with a gift card to her favorite store or a store where she shops at religiously! Some stores also allow you to personalize your gift card. Cute right!

Sephora Gift Card | Target Gift Card

So that concludes my ten gift ideas for her this Valentine’s Day. Some of them are affordable so if you’re on a budget, definitely try a Pearl Bath bomb! Spoil your girl because her happiness reflects off you!

Remember, if she can’t get the day off, make sure you surprise her at work with her favorite flowers and maybe one of the items I mentioned up above! I know if my boyfriend were to get me any one of these, I would totally love them!

Thanks again for reading!

what i got for christmas! | @janedarlingg

One of the posts that I was most excited about was this particular post. I was encouraged to start this blog during Christmas, because it truly made me count my blessings. I received multiple gifts from my boyfriend’s family and didn’t expect them!

This year, Cody and I are moving out together. Our new home is currently being remodeled, but it’s the perfect time to gather all the furniture and materials we need.  My boyfriend’s parents went all out to get us the simplistic items that we need.

The rest of my gifts were either materialistic things I needed or truly wanted. Some aren’t shown on the bottom because I’ve already put them to use! Like the brand new car mats, my boyfriend knew I wanted, and the faux leather jacket his sister, Brandi got me!

Overall, I had a wonderful Christmas. Both my boyfriend’s family and mine spoiled me rotten. I didn’t expect anything from my boyfriend’s family, honestly, but my heart was so warm when presents after presents were piled on my lap. I genuinely can’t wait for next year!

introduction | @janedarlingg

For a while now, I wanted to recreate my Tumblr as a personal blog spot to bring to light the abundant blessings in my life, given my 2018 New Year’s resolution of not taking anything for granted. Instead of establishing my thoughts on Tumblr, I ventured off in search of another blog platform, due to the wide variety of distractions of Tumblr.

So here’s going to be a place for me to voice my beliefs of life and daily situations, and the many countless moments that surround my sweet life. (To be honest, I don’t have much planned out for this blog, but I’m extremely excited to look back on this site and remember everything that I’ve worked on and the sentimental memories that came along with it.)
